Our medical members are the strength of the foundation. They are medical practitioners who work with persons living with bleeding disorder. While haematologists are the principal doctors or a person living with bleeding disorder, the list of medical specializations that are involved is broad.
This is because a person living with bleeding disorder is also a human being and can suffer any other form of health concerns along with having a bleeding disorder. Being a person with bleeding disorder however affects in a great the treatment options that may be offered by the doctor.
Membership in this area covers Doctors (Hematologists, Physiotherapists, Orthopedic surgeons, Dentists etc) and other health workers such as Family health doctor, Nurses, Lab Technicians and a whole lot more.
The Medical and Scientific Advisory Council (MASAC) is responsible for recommending policy on specific medical and clinical issues to the Board of Directors of the Haemophilia Foundation of Nigeria (HFN). Membership is open to all healthcare providers directly involved in the management of persons bleeding disorders or have an interest in bleeding disorders.
